News

September, 2020 - The Wine Enthusiast -Dunning Vineyards 2017 Reserve Grenache (Paso Robles Willow Creek District)  93 points

Thick and lavish aromas of cherry, caramel and milk chocolate are offset by a brighter black-raspberry tone on the nose of this bottling. The mouthfeel is creamy, rich and lush with baked blackberry, coffee and mocha flavors, and accented by hints of roasted game and a cola-spiced finish. (Matt Kettmann)

September, 2016 - The Wine Enthusiast -Dunning Vineyards 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon (Paso Robles Willow Creek District)  93 points

Incredibly rich blackberry-jam aromas meet with licorice, smoked beef and black rocks on the continually evolving and dynamic nose of this bottling from Paso Robles' west side. It's rich, juicy and expertly structured on the palate, where blackberry fruit meets with pencil-lead minerality and light espresso flavors. The tannic grip is solid and the acidity is strong, ensuring long ageability.

August, 2016 - The Wine Enthusiast -Dunning Vineyards 2012 Estate Meritage (Paso Robles Willow Creeek District) 93 points

Crushed blueberries, roasted coffee, vanilla bean, fudge and fragrant lilacs show on the very inviting, floral and jammy nose of this blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Red plum and black cherry arise at first sip, followed by a sandalwood-laced boysenberry and cedar character that are framed by tart acidity and a soft tannic structure.

August, 2016 - The Wine Enthusiast -Dunning Vineyards Reserve Petite Sirah (Paso Robles) 90 points

Pitch-black in the glass, this is a meaty, deep wine, with inviting aromas of beef, black currant, caramel and smoke on the nose. The acidity is quite explosive on the palate, where flavors of charred beef, plum sauce, peppercorns and blueberry migrate towards a dark-roasted coffee note.

February, 2015 - The Wine Enthusiast -Dunning Vineyards 2013 Westside Estate Wines Chardonnay (Paso Robles) 92 points

One of the many vintners proud of their forthcoming Willow Creek District appellation, Bob and Jo-Ann Dunning's Chardonnay presents delicate aromas of yellow flowers, vanilla bean, peach skin and limestone. The white rocks extend to the palate, picking up nectarine elements, too, creating a lean but flavorful wine that's refreshing enough to sip all night -- M.K.

2002 Syrah - 87 pts  from Parker's Wine Advocate. The reasonably priced 2002 offers Syrah character (blackberries, cassis, earth, and licorice), medium body, supple tannin, and a generous mouthfeel. Drink it over the next 3-4 years.

2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Paso Robles Westside -88 pts from the Wine Spectator. Focused, with fine intensity and concentration on black currant, black cherry and violet character, with roasted herb tones, minerals and generous cedary oak framed by solid structure. Drink now through 2009.

August 24, 2014, American Wine Society "Wine of the Night"

"The 2011 Dunning Vineyards Zinfandel Estate Reserve was Wine of the Night (WOTN) at the AWSLA 4th annual Zin & BBQ summer party. This is the second time that Dunning was the top pick at an AWSLA event.

Dunning beat out Turley, Carlisle, Epoch, Calcareous, J. Dusi, Martinelli, Outpost, Nickel and Nickel, Tobin James, Limerick Lane, Gamba, Robert Keenan, Beekeeper, Hendry, Mauritson, Rosenblum, Hartford, to name a few." -AWS

2011 Dunning Vineyards Petite Sirah Reserve

"Smooth, ready to drink, rich, and full-bodied. This bottle showed how great Petite Sirah can be. A real eye-opener!

This bottle was an "underdog", who thought a Petite Sirah would be the crowd favorite when put up against the best GSM and Syrah from Paso Robles." - AWS

We received some nice reviews over at Cellar Tracker:

2010 Dunning Vineyards Petite Sirah Reserve

2/17/2013 - 93 points. 15.5% ABV. Completely purple in color. Aromas of black fruits and white pepper. Blackberry cobbler, peppercorn, anise, mint and a touch of vanilla on the palate. The wine is unctuous with amazing viscosity. Supple but firm tannins. The sweet finish literally lasts for over a minute. This wine is stellar right now but has the stuffing to age effortlessly for at least a decade. TOMLEE.

2010 Dunning Vineyards Zinfandel Estate Bottled - Private Reserve Westside

2/15/2013 - 92 points. Deep magenta in color. Gorgeous red fruits on the nose. Fresh raspberry, loganberry, pepper, cherry liqueur and cloves on the palate. Rich, jammy and thickly textured. The finish is long and supple. Impressive! TOMLEE.
